The Nigerian Bottling Company Limited has stated its commitment to boost its investment through a mega production facility in Okigwe, Imo State.

This was revealed to a cross section of journalists in Imo state during an interactive session organised by NBC and held at All Seasons Hotel, Owerri.

Speaking at the session, the Company’s Head, Public Affairs and Communication, Mr. Uzo Odenigbo, says that NBC is executing an Accelerated Investment Plan aimed at doubling production capacity by 2020.

He added that some of the company’s plants in Nigeria were being upgraded while a new plant is to be established in Okigwe, Imo State.

Odenigbo said, “The already existing operations in Imo State would be significantly enhanced, hence the need to drive momentous investment into its operations and site a world-class, state-of-the-art factory in Okigwe. When completed, the facility would be the biggest NBC manufacturing and warehouse site in Nigeria, supporting other existing production lines to deliver more to yearning customers and dealers in the Eastern Nigeria and beyond, in an environmentally sustainable way”.

“Demand for our products is high, and in a bid to meet up with the sales projection trajectory in a very competitive environment, more production lines would be installed, most of which will be in our new Okigwe mega production facility”.

He says that the company’s operations support the socio-economic lives of its stakeholders, provides employment opportunities, improves livelihood and economically empowers communities, where they operate and with utmost need for basic infrastructure.

He however, said that the company was also partnering with communities on its shared values of youth development and women empowerment. It has also collaborated with state governments, supported female entrepreneurs with trade asset financing and business training. The Coca-Cola value chain remains a top priority and a strategic part of the company’s annual business plan”, he added.
