Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria on Friday said it had lifted the force majeure on gas supplies to the Nigeria LNG Limited from the Eastern Gas Gathering System following repair of a sabotage leak on the line.
The oil major, in a statement signed by the Corporate Media Relations Manager, SPDC, Mr. Precious Okolobo, said the force majeure was declared on August 4, 2015.
The SPDC said, “The joint investigation team which visited the site found that the leak was caused by a crude theft connection, apparently installed by people who thought the line was transporting crude oil.”
The declaration of the force majeure followed a leak along the EGGS-1.
The force majeure clause is a standard clause in most contracts and it includes events such as natural disasters, wars and other occurrences not within the power or control of the executing party, which makes the implementation of the contract impossible.
