A former president of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, Mr. Chris Ekeigwe, has expressed concern over the country’s inadequate investment in the Information Technology sector.
Ekeigwe spoke recently in Lagos while playing host to the new board members of the association, according to a statement on Monday.
The ISACA’s founding president said the government’s poor attitude to the development of the education sector, especially the ICT, was denying Nigerians of many opportunities in the technological world.
He urged the current administration to pay more attention to IT education, which he said would help the country in the area of data processing, auditing and monitoring of transactions among economic various organisations.
The President of the association, Mr. Peter Ineh, said they visited to seek the continuous support of the founding president.
Ineh, however, advised Nigerians to develop their IT skills, arguing that being computer literate would make one an IT expert.
He further said his association had concluded arrangements
to partner a big auditing firm to give technical support to members.
He stated, “To get more technical support, we are looking at the possibility of partnering a big auditing firms such as KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, and Ernest and Young, in order to get technical support and laboratory equipment to help both the private and public institutions to be more oriented in the world of IT and how it can be used to improve our economy.”
Also on the visit with the president were Vice President, Mr. Tope Aladenusi; Director Information and Branding, Mr. Uzo Odunukwe; and Financial Secretary, Mr. Abiodun Ademosu.
