As part of its efforts to diversify its investment portfolio, the Board of Directors of Anchor Insurance Company Limited has approved the construction of a new commercial high-rise building in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
In a statement made available on Friday, the company said the project would feature a multipurpose six-floor complex complete with modern facilities, including banking hall at the ground floor and restaurant at the pent floor, and would sit on about 1,500 square metres of land.
Anchor stated that the built up area would be about 700sqm thus, leaving substantial part of the land for car park.
It added that the board had retained the services of Design Project Nigeria, a firm of Architects with offices in Abuja, Calabar and Lagos.
It is estimated that the project will be completed within one year and probably will be inaugurated to mark the company’s 25th anniversary in the last quarter of 2014.
Anchor said all designs and approvals had been obtained from relevant government agencies in Uyo.
The Managing Director, Anchor Insurance, Mr. Adeduro Mayowa, said the project would be a landmark in the heart of the Akwa Ibom State capital.
