An indigenous exploration and production company, Energia has achieved a milestone daily production of 5,700 barrels of oil per day in her Ebendo field operation (OML 56) located onshore of the country.
Energia is the operator of the Energia/Oando joint venture assets of Ebendo Obodeti fields.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Felix Amieye-ofori, said the milestone was in line with the company’s projection.
The CEO, in a statement on Monday, said the company would add another 2,000 bopd in the third quarter after completing the ongoing testing and initial completion of Ebendo well-6.
He said this would bring daily production to about 8,000 bopd before the end of the third quarter of the year.
According to him, Energia should hit the 10,000 bopd mark with the drilling of Ebendo well-7.
He said, “The completion of well-6 will signal the beginning of other rounds of drilling and completion operation to commence with the drilling of another trio-wells 7, 8, and 9, which will see the company’s production to about 15,000 bopd in 2014/2015.”
To ensure sustainable production, Amieye-ofori said Energia was already planning to upgrade facilities in its existing flow station.
“We should complete and inaugurate our 2 x 10,000 bbls crude oil storage tank this quarter, while plans are on for additional 30,000 bbls tank in view of the increasing production capacity. We are also making progress with our Cluster Members in the construction of the 53 km export line that is expected to free our locked in potential, with the present export line to Brass Terminal,” he explained.
The CEO stated that the company inherited an abandoned well in 2003 that was revived and restored to production through rigorous rigless workover operations through the help of the company’s in-house technology group.
He said, “We have so far since our first oil production in 2010, successfully reprocessed and re-evaluated our seismic data, and have also successfully drilled three additional development wells in Ebendo field, which have opened up new drilling prospects in Ebendo field, in our second rounds of campaign in the coming months and years.”
He said the company was currently closing out discussions with its bankers to be able to raise additional funds to support the field development campaign.
According to him, the company is being positioned strategically to be able to enter into the next league in the exploration and production business, both locally and internationally in the coming years.
As a socially responsible company, Amieye-ofori said the growth was not only for the company and its other investors, but more importantly, for the benefit of the various host and impacted communities in their areas of operation in the Niger Delta.
