A systems integration company in West Africa, Resourcery Plc; and a global player in networking, Cisco, have developed a video solution for players in the oil and gas sector to enhance communication.
The firms, according to a statement from Resourcery on Friday, are also organising a one-day business seminar for executives in the oil and gas sector of the economy to X-ray this new area of development.
The Business Solution Manager (voice and video), Resourcery, Mr. Gbenga Adanlawo, was quoted in the statement as saying, “We recognise the shift in global work practices which also affects how we do business here in Nigeria. We also know that technology needs to evolve to allow people communicate and collaborate in a more social, more virtual, more mobile, and more visual way.
“That is why we are providing this opportunity for our oil and gas sector customers to experience how seamless business video communication can enhance their internal and external service delivery.”
Cisco’s Territory Business Manager, Mr. Jideofor Onwuemelu, also said it was time for the oil and gas sector to fully embrace the benefits that Cisco’s video collaboration services offer.
With Cisco’s video conferencing solution suite, local offices can easily integrate video with their workplace tools thereby transforming their business environment, he said, adding , “No doubt video transforms how we access our phone books as well as enhance the way we relate with our colleagues, customers and suppliers.
“We are very confident that at the end of the business session, our customers would be able to appreciate the offerings of this video architecture including the enhancement of employees’ productivity, reduction in travel cost and effective collaboration to drive growth.
“They would also tap into the universal power of TelePresence to unify their supply chain, provide highly engaged customer service, train remote teams, and improve employee engagement. What this means is that your businesses can begin to think beyond the boardroom.”
The business gathering is scheduled to hold in Port-Harcourt.
Tagged, ‘Breaking down the wall of communication’, the event is aimed at addressing the business benefits of the effective application of Cisco Video conferencing, WebEx, Internet Protocol telephony and digital media signage as it relates to the peculiar oil and gas sector of our business environment.
Commenting on the upcoming event, the Eastern Regional Manager, Resourcery, Mr. Ifeanyi Ikoro, noted that as the oil and gas workforce became more mobile, business executives were beginning to appreciate the benefits and growing impact of video as an integral component of the development of their organisations. “It’s a known fact that today’s laptops, desktops and mobile devices have at least one built-in camera,” he said.
Ikoro added, “Whether you are indigenous or international oil and gas company, new to video, or growing your information technology infrastructure to support the use of video as an effective business tool, this meeting provides you a veritable opportunity to see and test how this is applicable to your business environment. With competent professionals from Cisco and Resourcery, we aim to fully explore some of the technical applications of these business solutions as it affects our local businesses here in Nigeria.
