A media outfit, Climax Media and Economy Investment Company, has embarked on  the development of an online directory dedicated to businesses owned by the Egba people in Nigeria and the Diaspora.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Segun Ibigbami, disclosed this while speaking during the inauguration of the Egba Wonders magazine in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Ibigbami was quoted in a statement on Monday that the online directory would serve as a platform for the people of Egba extraction worldwide to discuss, interact and exchange ideas on business and development issues.

He added that developing such a forum had become imperative given the achievements already recorded by the Egba people in all walks of life.

He said, “Work is ongoing on the development of a comprehensive online business directory, which will be a dedicated business directory for Egba business and an online forum which will serve as a platform for the good people of Egbaland at home and in the Diaspora to rub minds on development issues.

“In the ancient city we have potential, excellent and international standard tourist sites, which can fetch us a lot of income if we can brand, highlight and promote them to the world.”

Ibigbami, who noted that the ancient town had produced numerous human resources for Nigeria, however, said  development in the state was still slow.

He also expressed regret that most residents in the state had always demonstrated the lack of confidence in the town’s entrepreneurs, adding that some businesses could still not thrive in the ancient city.

He said, “The good people of Egba (Abeokuta) have added so much to the economy of our great country, Nigeria, but not all these have translated into real investment in Egbaland.”
