Cool World Electric Retail store, a subsidiary of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, has given scholarship grants worth N1.8m to three of its customers.

The grants were part of its Back2School promotion, which ended recently.

The beneficiaries were selected via a raffle draw, which took place in Lagos.

Hauwa Mohammed, from Abuja; Olofitila Olufemi, who lives in Lagos; and Otta Ada, from Enugu, got N1m, N500, 000 and N300, 000 educational grants, respectively.

The winners, who were informed about their win by phone, were referred to UBA Trustees, which would administer the grant.

The Head, Private Trust, Uba Trustees Limited, Mrs. Motunrayo Ade-Famoti, who said the funds for the grant had been handed over to the company, explained that it could not be monetised.

She said, “Because it is an educational fund, it cannot be monetised. We have to ensure that it is used for educational purposes. We will pay to the institution for the course of your choice. However, if you feel you are not able to take any course or you are done with your education, you can transfer it to a family member or friend still for an educational purpose.”

The Commercial Director, Cool World, Mr. Gbenga Kolawole, explained that the promotion was designed to give back to the firms’ customers and the society. He added that more of similar promotions would be held by the firm throughout the year.

He said, “There is another event coming up in November. What we have given out today is N1.8m; we have another N1.8m to give out and the promo for that would take off in September.”

The event was witnessed by representative of UBA Trustees Limited as well as representative of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc as well as customers of the subsidiary.
