The law enforcement unit of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, the ,KAI Brigade has vowed to sustain the demolition of illegal structures like makeshift shops and containers erected near major roads in order to prevent street traders from carrying out their illegal activities.

The KAI Administrator; Mr. Amos Onipede, who disclosed in a statement made available on Sunday, said his men had been positioned in major parts of the metropolis like Ikeja, Oshodi, Apapa, Surulere, Yaba, Ikorodu Road, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Agege, among others, to prevent the traders from staging a comeback.

Onipede, who was recently appointed as the interim KAI Brigade administrator, gave an assurance that unlike the previous times when the illegal traders and hawkers that were dislodged came back afterwards, it would be totally different this time around.

According to him, since the demolition of illegal shops on the major roads, motorists and passers-by are now relishing the free flow of traffic.

He warned Lagos residents to desist from anything that could constitute environmental nuisance, adding that the government would not handle them with levity.
