The Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Jebba Area, has attributed the recent disruption of power supply in some parts of the area to a technical challenge.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Public Affairs Officer of Jebba Business Unit, PHCN, Mr. Abubakar Imam, said the technical problem was as a result of a faulty auxiliary transformer at the Hydro-Power Station in Kainji, Niger State.

It listed the affected communities as Kaiama, New-Bussa, Wawa, among others.

While rendering apology to the communities over the power disruption, Imam said the problem would soon be addressed.

He added that the company’s team of engineers was working tirelessly to rectify the fault and ensure the continuation of normal service delivery to the affected areas.

The people of New Bussa, Kaiamah and Wawa had been in black out for about three weeks, our correspondent learnt, prompting some youths in the area to protest.

Meanwhile the Business Manager, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, IIorin, Alhaji Abdulfatai Olatunji, has decried the incessant cable theft and vandalism.

Olatunji told journalists that the company had recorded no fewer than 60 cases of cable theft between March and September this year.

He added that over 60 sub stations affected by the cable theft and vandalism spread across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Olatunji said, “The State Security Services, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, the Police and other relevant agencies have been contacted for the monitoring of PHCN installations.”
