Mobile money service providers will undergo subscribers’ test at the 3rd Mobile Money Expo happening in Lagos this week.
Organisers of the event said on Monday that the expo would enable subscribers test mobile money applications from different providers during the two-day event.
Notably among the licensed mobile money providers that will be showcasing innovations at the subscribers’ interaction centre, according to a statement on Monday, are GTBank MobileMoney, Paga and Stanbic IBTC.
The Principal Associate, Mobile MoneyAfrica, Mr. Emmanuel Okoegwale, said the subscriber interaction centre would be hosted by social media network, Eskimi, adding that hundreds of its subscribers would be visiting the centre to test, evaluate and sign up for mobile-money services during the two-day event.
Okoegwale further said the 2013 edition of the MobileMoney Expo would provide mobile money operators the opportunity to share experiences in all domain areas of mobile financial services covering regulation, technology, application, marketing, customer relationship, agency network and other innovative practices that would improve adoption of mobile financial services for shopping, remittances, microfinance, social payments and others.
The expo is jointly promoted by MobileMoneyAfrica, Nigerian Communications Media and African Centre for Mobile Financial Inclusion in the United Kingdom.
According to Okoegwale, the expo will be a gathering of important personalities in the industry across Africa and beyond, cutting across mobile network operators, financial institutions, technology providers, regulators and other associated players.
“The purpose of promoting a space at the event to showcase all mobile money innovations in Nigeria is to enable potential subscribers access all the applications available and sign up instantly during the event. That section of the event is open and free to delegates to promote adoption of mobile financial services,” he said.
Commenting on the centre, the Editor-in-Chief, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, Mr. Ken Nwogbo, said, “The interaction centre is a first for the industry and it is aimed at educating the customers to make the right decision to enrol for mobile financial services in Nigeria.”
