Ejigbo Local Council Development Area has said it is partnering with local traders to boost economic activities in the area.
Consequently, the LCDA said it had built a new area office and market hall for local traders and residents as a way of making government at the grass root easily accessible to the people, through the provision of public utilities in the domain.
A statement by the Information Officer of the council, Mr. Rabiu Hassan, quoted the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ademorin Kuye, as commending the development, when he visited the council to open the two facilities.
The new Jakande Area office and market hall were built close to each other.
Kuye, who had earlier inaugurated the distribution of free school uniform to 8,000 pupils in the council area, said the LCDA Chairman, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, and other council chairmen had justified the existence of additional 37 councils in the state.
The commissioner added that the creation of the area office would enable people residing in Jakande Estate to find easy access to relate with the council, without necessarily travelling to the council’s secretariat, particularly, when it comes to the payment of levies.
He also said that the market hall would provide an avenue for traders in the area to meet and discuss on issues bothering on trading activities.
