The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria says it has completed the remodelling of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and the Benin Airport and that the two facilities are ready for opening.

A statement from FAAN quoted the Managing Director, Mr. George Uriesi, as saying this while on inspection of the remodelling projects going on across some airport terminals in the country.

Uriesi was accompanied by his directors and other relevant personnel of the agency. He was said to have inspected the arrival and departure lounges, check-in counters, security and safety apparatus of both the domestic and international wings of the Kano airport.

He said the level of work done at the Benin Airport was commendable and that the facility was ready for opening.

According to the statement, the inspection tour took the team to other airports, namely: Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu and the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Uriesi who addressed the contractors at the different project sites, said the ongoing remodelling project was long overdue, and called on airport users to bear with the authority concerning the inconveniences they had to go through during the project execution.

He inspected the level of work done at each of the four airports and called on all the contractors to see themselves as stakeholders in the aviation industry by giving the best service they could render, so that Nigerian airports would become a true hub in the West African sub-region.

He said that the Federal Government was concerned about the welfare of the travelling public, and was doing all it could to raise the standard of operations to international standard.
