The Suzuki family in Nigeria has been enlarged with the unveiling of another small passenger car, Dzire, on Thursday in Lagos.

Authorised dealer/distributor of the Suzuki brand of automobile in the country, C&I Leasing Group, said the target was the taxi market in the cities.

The Managing Director, C&I Motors, Mr. Vikram Mehtani, said the company decided to introduce the model based on its findings, which confirmed the popularity of the small car segment.

He spoke with motoring journalists after the inauguration of the vehicle at the company’s office in Lagos.

Apart from the taxi business, he said the vehicle would also do well among young people, especially those who just secured employment.

He said, young couples in the middle class would fancy the vehicle because of its small size and the price.

“We also have a lot of companies looking for operational vehicles that are not really expensive, below N3m; they will be interested in our Swift Dzire,” Mehtani said.

He described the new Suzuki as an irresistible car for people who desire efficient and comfortable sedan.

He said, “The swift Dzire is an absolute new automobile from Suzuki stable, which I hope will help us tremendously to increase our presence in the entry level sedan segment of the Nigerian automobile market, which offers a great promise.”

According to Mehtani, the swift Dzire is a new offering in the sedan segment that combines an appealing shape with high fuel efficiency and robust engineering design.

The introduction of Swift Dzire, he explained, had helped Suzuki to cross the bridge between hatch-back vehicles represented by the Suzuki Alto and Celerio and the midsize sedan, represented by Suzuki Sx4.
