Kogi takes over Confluence Beach Hotel

In an attempt to boost tourism, the Kogi State Government has taken over the newly built 100-room Confluence Beach Hotel, which is located in the state capital, Lokoja.

At the handover ceremony by the contractor, Enyser Limited (a member of the Petrolog Group), the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Thomas Acholo, who represented Governor Idris Wada, said the state had plans of exploiting its tourism potential by transforming its landscape.

Acholo said the state was endowed with a number of monuments around which the rich culture of the people revolved, and which also provided the right environment for investors in the hospitality sector.

While commending the contractor, the commissioner said the state government was considering building similar structures in other parts of the state, including one of the islands around Lokoja.

The Chairman, Enyser Limited, Dr. Vincent Ebuh, said the completion of the hotel was historic, adding that the project could be a platform for tourism development in the state.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Mubo Eniola, said the state government was determined to make the project a success and expressed belief that in the next few months, the hotel would be attracting visitors from all parts of the world.
